Intaglio prints exploring landscape through form & atmosphere. They are all based on drawings done in situ.
These are 'collagraph' prints, where a prepared board surface is cut, scribed & peeled. Tone is added in various ways - grit, gesso, carborundum, paint, glue - using brush, knives & spatulas. Expressive marks are made with the hand & fingers. More detailed 'etched' style drypoint prints are achieved with lines drawn in by scalpels, needles & tools into a plate surface coated in layers of varnish. Sweeping tones can be achieved with sandpaper.
